Computed Tomography
Computed tomography (CT) is an advanced imaging technology that provides detailed information and insight into a pet’s soft tissue structures. Unlike traditional X-rays, which produce a single top-to-bottom image, CT generates numerous thinly sliced images that allow the veterinarian to view a specific point of interest (e.g., an organ, tumor, or joint) at various depths, or to use the images to construct a three-dimensional computer generated model. This level of visual study and precision provides your pet’s care team with key information, including the abnormality’s exact location, size, and proximity to or involvement with other structures.
CT is a relatively new addition to veterinary medicine, and was previously available only at large referral hospitals and universities. NVC is proud to bring this advanced imaging modality to our patients and clients, thus creating better access to cutting-edge diagnostic technology and improving patient outcomes.
